Photo Album Page 6ak : The Legend of Barney !   Barney is a much loved toy monkey who was relegated to the attic some fifteen years ago as Caroline grew up. Last year we did a purge of toys from the attic. Many of them travelled North to be sold into slavery at a toy sale orchestrated by the provisional wing of the Bedfordshire Women's Institute (Roger's mother is one of their more notorious hit-men). Toys like Barney - which were especially loved - were, of course, exempt from this mild form of ethnic cleansing.   Calamity - Caroline couldn't find Barney, had he perhaps been erroneously transported to the colonies of Bedfordshire ?   
Rogers Mum remembered seeing a monkey among the evacuees, so she rushed up to the toy sale and paid a huge ransom to free the toy while Roger had to drive a 160 mile round trip to rescue it;    only to return home to find that he'd rescued a second class "lookalike" monkey and the real Barney had been discovered and was sitting in Rogers place in the conservatory !
