Photo Album Page 2aq : The Donner Park memorial - June 2007. The "Donner Party" were a group of early settlers who were trapped here while trying to find a new route to California in the winter of 1846/7. Many died and they resorted to cannibalism. The big rock on the left formed the North end of the winter shelter where they were trapped.
